Sharing the Love

Providing school supplies to children has become a tradition at Pavilion of Hope.  But this year, we decided to do something a little different. In addition to school supplies, we passed out Bibles and Bible activity books to children, their parents and other community residents alike.

We believe a changed heart changes lives.  As a faith-based nonprofit, we stand on and utilize Christian principles to impact the lives of those we serve.  Helping to meet the natural needs of our clients is important.  But we believe that long-term help and a fulfilled life comes from God.

You can help expand our efforts by making a donation to help us buy supplies.  Your support is important can have a life-long effect.

No Longer A Disaster!

Tags :

“I never thought I could ever be in this situation and that it would take so long for me to get a normal life back” says Ms. Washington.  As a victim of hurricane Katrina, she has fought to get her family resettled and her life back together.

The loss of life from Katrina was astonishing, the number injured devastating, and the damage to infrastructure, businesses, and homes almost inconceivable.  There are many like Ms. Washington who are still struggling to recover many years later.

Disaster victims often suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder due to the loss of loved ones, neighbors, and friends. “My kids and I saw things that most people never see in real life. We have really suffered” stated Ms. Washington.  Ms. Washington was finally able to get Section 8 help and get a place to live.  Her journey has been long and hard.  She and her children were sleeping and eating on the floor, but she feels blessed to finally have a home after so many years.

Pavilion of Hope is proud to help resettle victims of natural disaster.

Making A Difference!

Tags :

Pavilion of Hope works hard to ensure that families in need have a comfortable place to call home.  Victims of homelessness and domestic violence are on the rise in this country.

A domestic violence experience is common among youth, single adults and families who become homeless and for many it is the immediate cause of their homelessness. Survivors of domestic violence may turn to homeless service programs seeking a safe temporary place to stay after fleeing an abusive relationship. Others may turn to homeless service programs primarily because they lack the economic resources to secure or maintain housing after leaving an abusive relationship.

Data is limited, but recent statistics suggest that on a single night in January 2016, 12 percent of the overall homeless population, 70,000 people, reported having experienced domestic violence at some point. Research from a study in New York City indicates that one in five families experienced domestic violence in the five years before entering shelter. Among families that reported domestic violence in the prior five years, 88 percent reported that it contributed to their homelessness “a lot.”

Our goal at Pavilion of Hope is to help resettle these families in a safe and comfortable environment.  Ms. Head, a domestic violence survivor, has worked hard to secure a safe home for her children.  In her struggle, she was also diagnosed with cancer.  She has lived in shelters and finally was able to find a job and an apartment.  However, she did not have enough money for any home furnishings, and she and her children had to live in an empty apartment for months.  It was our pleasure to provide her with help.  Her children were so excited, we literally could not stop them from helping to unload the truck.
